They all seem to be fighting for the living, well all but Cersei who is still fighting for herself, in the first trailer for the FINAL season Game of Thrones!

After Entertainment Weekly dropped 16 Game of Thrones covers on Monday, it only seemed like a matter of time before HBO finally gifted fans with the first official trailer for the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones!

Hold your breath and brace for goose bumps, check out the trailer below…

The trailer is not really forthcoming with new information or any really shocking reveals (but duh it is Game of Thrones) and seems like a big tease for the beyond epic Battle of Winterfell which has been reported took 11 weeks or 55 nights to film. It seems to my eye that most of the footage we are getting in this trailer is from the first episode, Jon, Dany, and company arriving in the North and then the preparation for the Battle of Winterfell, all leading to that chilling last frame.

Then of course there is the footage of a Lone Lion Queen, Cersei, in the Red Keep. Who looks like she at times could be second guessing her choice to turn her back on the deal she made with Jon and Dany but all that glimmer of doubting is erased when she sees that Crazy Uncle Greyjoy achieved his goal of getting her The Golden Company. The real question is will she bring the battle for the Iron Throne to the North or wait for them to come to King’s Landing?

From the sign of Jon hanging out in the crypt of Winterfell, it looks like Bran and Sam may have told Jon who he really is. The second to last Targaryen aka the true heir to the Iron Throne. If you look past the Gendry thing. And it looks like true love can look past the whole being related thing for Jon and Dany as she goes to comfort him.

Though the most interesting part of the trailer would be when Jon and Dany (the last two dragons) go to the actual last two dragons. We know that Dany is able to ride Drogon, do we think Jon can ride Rhaegal (the dragon named after his birth father)? And maybe that visual is what gives both Arya and Tyrion the look of shock we see in the trailer. Though I am not really sure how that would be a game changer when it comes to battling the Army of Dead.

I can’t help but just look at everyone in the trailer and think, “damnit you are probably going to die.”

So what did you think of the first official trailer for Game of Thrones season 8? Did you also think it needed more Sansa Stark side-eye? Me too!

Game of Thrones returns April 14 at 9 PM on HBO!
