HBO has been keeping busy this week!
After dropping an epic teaser commercial during the Golden Globes, which included the first line of dialogue from Game of Thrones season 8…
The premium channel released – no not the season 8 trailer – a long list of new cast members as well as the director and executive producer for the pilot of the Game of Thrones prequel series.
Joining Josh Whitehouse and Naomi Watts, who will be depicting “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret,” are Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Denise Gough (Monday), Jamie Campbell Bower (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), Sheila Atim (Harlots), Ivanno Jeremiah (Humans), Georgie Henley (The Chronicles of Narnia films), Alex Sharp (How to Talk to Girls at Parties) and Toby Regbo (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald).
I have *literally* been wanting Jamie Campbell Bower to play a Targaryen for YEARS! I mean in my dreams he was Rhaegar Targaryen but we don’t always get what we want!
Now let’s play a fast round of who will be in what house with a couple of the new cast members (we already know that Naomi Watts is totally House Lannister)…
Jamie Campbell Bower – House Targaryen
Toby Regbo – House Lannister
Georgie Henley – House Stark or House Tully
In addition to the announcement of a BUNCH of cast members, HBO also released that SJ Clarkson (Marvel’s The Defenders, Jessica Jones) will direct as well as executive produce the pilot episode of the prequel.
Now here is a quick reminder of what the prequel is about:
Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. From the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend, only one thing is for sure: It’s not the story we think we know.
So what are your thoughts on the new actors heading off to Westeros?
Game of Thrones returns in April on HBO.
