New York Comic Con is in full swing and one of the moments we were most excited to hear about is Netflix’s adaptation of The Umbrella Academy.
Those who attended the panel were treated to a trailer for the series. Sadly, we don’t have that trailer to share but we can tell you what happened. The footage starts like the comics (created by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá), one day in 1989 women suddenly become pregnant and give birth to unexpected children. Yikes, that is a scary thought. The mysterious and extremely rich Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore) adopts seven of them and molds the mystery babies into a superhero team known as the Umbrella Academy.
Fast forward to 17 years later, the death of Sir Reginald Hargreeves brings his adopted children together. Panel guests got to see the team in action. Number Five dodging bullets while using his time traveling powers; Klaus stealing a skirt from his sister because of the way it breathes; Vanya being nervous in front of her super-powered siblings, and machine gun assassins most likely Hazel and Cha-Cha.
Hopefully, Netflix will share the teaser with the rest of the world so we can see this with our own eyes. But they a least shared new character posters for us to ogle over.
Super strong. Super lonely. No. 1
