DC Entertainment hit SDCC like lighting on Saturday with back-to-back panels featuring Wonder Woman 1984, Shazam!, and Aquaman!

DC took advantage of Marvel Studios not attending the con to give superhero and film-loving geeks a large dose of excitement. Including footage from Wonder Woman 1984 (which won’t be released to the public) and trailers for Shazam! and Aquaman!

We break down what went down during each panel below…

Wonder Woman 1984

Director Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot, and Chris Pine all took part in the panel which was hosted by Aisha Tyler. Though much like when the first photos for the film were released, the appearance of Chris Pine (whose character, Steve Trevor, dies in Wonder Woman) is still leaving fans confused. But I think it is safe to say that we will not be learning any more about Trevor’s roles in 1984 until closer to the release date.

Production on Wonder Woman 1984 only started 4 weeks ago but Jenkins did deliver some footage for the fans which we can share. Via inside sources, the footage shows Diana aka Wonder Woman dealing with some bad guys in a mall with her magic lasso in hand as a group of young girls looks on! Um, I am already tearing up!

During the panel, Jenkins explains why the film is set in the ’80s, “I grew up in the ’80s,” she explained. “It really was mankind at its best and worst. It was grand and wonderful with great music. At the same time, we were revealing the worst of us.”

Both Jenkins and Gadot also made it clear that the film is not just a sequel to the 2017 Wonder Woman, “We can make a whole new movie that’s as strong and unique as the first. It’s not more of anything; it’s its own thing,” stated Jenkins during the panel.

Wonder Woman 1984 is slated to hit theaters in November of 2019!

Fans finally got their first taste of Shazam! when cast, Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, and Jack Dylan Grazer, along with director, David Sandberg, dropped the trailer at their panel! Check it out below…

So sure when the first photos of this film came out we all had a laugh but now it is hard to find something to dislike about the trailer. Well, I can find one thing, that is not what Septa looks like! Yo, you should have filmed in Philly (insert eye roll)!

Now let’s get official with the synopsis for the film:

Shazam! follows Asher Angel’s character, Billy Batson, a regular teenager who is bestowed with a superpower when a powerful wizard gives him the ability to transform into a Superman-esque adult superhero with a bolt of lightning emblazoned across his chest when he shouts the word Shazam.

I think we can all agree that DC is trying very hard to give us a somewhat family friendly Deadpool and fingers crossed comedy is actually something DC can do!

Shazam! is slated to hit theaters in April of 2019!

DC also dropped the first official trailer for the upcoming December release of Aquaman starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, and Nicole Kidman. DC fans got their first look at Momoa’s Aquaman in Justice League. Check out the trailer below…

Now let’s get official with the synopsis for the film:

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king.

Honestly, I want to like it but I just don’t know! And I can tell you as an actual redhead, I would never jump out of a plane without a parachute!

Aquaman will hit theaters this December!
