Rumor has it that Billy Dee Williams will be traveling back to a galaxy far far away for Episode IX!
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that sources have confirmed that Williams will be reprising his role as the galactic gambler and one-time owner of the Millennium Falcon, Lando Calrissian. Episode IX which will be filming later this summer. Rumors began to swirl around when Williams canceled an appearance at an upcoming convention stating that the event conflicted with filming.
This will mark Williams first time playing Lando on the big screen since Return of the Jedi in 1983, Williams has been lending his voice continuing to play Lando in multiple cartoons and video game series.
Williams is not the only one adding star power to Episode IX, it was announced late last week that Keri Russell will be joining Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, and others, in a role not yet released but hopefully (in my personal opinion) not Rey’s mother. But who knows what J.J. Abrams will do!
Star Wars: Episode IX is slated for a December 2019 release.
