YA love never dies…
…and thank goddess for that!
New York Times Bestseller (and my FAVORITE book of 2018 so far), The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw, was released earlier this month and Netflix has already snatched up the rights to the supernatural YA book about three young sisters who were accused of being witches and sentenced to death in the seaside town of Sparrow, Oregon in 1822. The sisters now haunt the town during summer, luring boys into the water and killing them!
The book is a page turner, I could barely put it down but a girl has to sleep! I mean just go out and read the book, people!
The Netflix film will be produced by Chernin Entertainment and that is all we know.
Though I am very excited for the film, the one thing I enjoyed most about The Wicked Deep is that the book is a standalone novel. The trend in YA nowadays is making everything a series. Sometimes is it is nice to get closer with all the characters and feel fulfilled with a story. And while there are several options written right into the pages of The Wicked Deep for multiple stories in the same universe, I hope Netflix just makes the film and let’s us all move on! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it and this book is perfect just the way it is.
Though many will wonder about the casting of the film, I am most worried about the location. Sparrow, Oregon is literally something made of dreams. I have a perfect picture of the town in my head and production better not f*!k it up!
Well there are my 2 cents!
We will keep you updated on the film but until then, READ THE BOOK!
The Wicked Deep is available where ever you get your books!
